* Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are advised that the following message contains information which may cause distress*
This weekend we commemorate the Dharawal men, women and children whose lives were unjustly taken under orders from Governor Lachlan Macquarie, in what is known as the Appin Massacre of 1816. Each year the Winga Myamly Reconciliation Group, the Aboriginal community and supporting services invite all interested residents to attend a memorial service, and Campbelltown City Council also holds a memorial flag raising ceremony in remembrance. You are invited to remember the Dharawal First Peoples and acknowledge the impact this had and continues to have on the Aboriginal people of this land. We are deeply sorry. We will remember them.
