Welcome to the Spring issue of Heritage NSW. Those of us living in the city
are sometimes not aware of the rich cultural heritage of country NSW.
However, many of our most precious heritage places are found outside the
metropolis. In fact, almost 40% of items on the State Heritage Register are
located beyond the Sydney basin.
This month's issue of Heritage NSW has a special focus on rural heritage.
We therefore take a look at some of the issues out there in the bush. For
example, Bruce Baskerville provides a few tips to help those in eastern and
central NSW get started on researching the history of their house; Kate Rea
profiles the heritage of ethnic communities in Albury; and Susan MacDonald
looks at the challenges facing those conserving our pastoral heritage.
