Sydney Metropolis traces the shifting geology and oblique geometry of this
city body though the dramas and dreams of artists, architects, planners and

City Visions Sydney Festival
There have always been visions for the perfect city. Most are never
realized. Many are fantastical, others revolutionary. A few are inspired.
Sometimes these plans are implemented with mixed results, affecting the way
our cities physically develop, in other instances their purpose is to
inspire critical debate. This major exhibition explores visionary plans for
Sydney's future, incorporating drawings, models, film and computer
technology.

Under the Sydney Stars
Aboriginal people were Australia's first astronomers. This exhibition shows
many constellations in the southern skies and explains how they were
created from an Aboriginal perspective. It highlights how the stars were
used for navigation by land and sea, for land and water management
practices and ceremonial use.

Workshop on the Chinese in Australian and New Zealand History
University of New South Wales
A three day workshop on Chinese in Australian and New Zealand. The workshop
is being organised by the Department of Chinese, School of Modern Language
Studies, UNSW, in conjunction with the School of History, the NSW Heritage
Office, the Migration Heritage Centre of NSW and Powerhouse Museum. At the
workshop a number of Australian projects will be reviewed by panels of
international specialists.

Reclaiming The Past -
Vietnamese Australians
Reclaiming the Past, the popular series showcasing Sydney's history,
community and identity, returns to the Museum of Sydney in 2000. This
season of monthly presentations from February to June includes music, film
and pictures from Sydney's Chinese, Vietnamese, Khmer and Polish-Australian
communities. The new season begins with a presentation exploring the Sydney
Vietnamese community's music and culture.

In this eclectic mix of paintings, prints, drawings and photographs - from

suburbs. The exhibition explores the variegated landscape of the suburban
lives of these artists, architects and writers who lived in these places.
