Agency Arms: Heraldry at work in the service of the people of NSW
During the later part of the 20th century several NSW government agencies were granted coats of arms of their own. Like the Rural Bank in the 1930s, they were statutory bodies that operated with some degree of autonomy compared to an ordinary government agency. Unlike the Rural Bank their Arms were not a differenced form of the NSW Arms, but entirely separate grants, although each retained a visual link to the NSW Arms through a shared charge - usually a golden fleece. This gallery shows some of those Agency Arms and their application as 'heraldry at work'.
