NSW Government Heritage Volunteer Awards
2011 Heritage Volunteer Awards Held.
Minister for Heritage, the Hon Robyn Parker MP, has honoured twenty-four people as 'heritage heroes' at the tenth annual NSW Government Heritage Volunteer Awards held on 9 December 2011.
The awards, presented by Gabrielle Kibble, outgoing Chair of the Heritage Council of NSW, recognised the outstanding contribution of volunteers in conserving the State's heritage.
"The awards recognise the exceptional contribution to heritage conservation, management and promotion made by our communities unsung heritage heroes," Ms Parker said.
"2011 saw a significant number of nominations to celebrate our heritage heroes. Our 2011 award winners represent a cross-section of community-based organisations, heritage agencies and individuals from regional and metropolitan areas of NSW all of whom generously donate their time and effort.
"The NSW Government Heritage Volunteer Awards program has seen more than 200 groups and individuals formally acknowledged for their work over the years.
"I thank and congratulate all our heritage volunteers for their contribution towards our State's heritage." Ms Parker said.
The Heritage Volunteer Awards were first introduced in 2002 to recognise local community-based volunteers and heritage organisations in conserving NSW heritage.
