Statement of Significance	Kempsey is a major railway location on the North Coast line with a substantial station building largely built in 1940 to cater for the traffic to Brisbane. The station is one of the largest buildings in the town, centrally located and a major structure in the townscape. It is surrounded by major plantings which contribute to the street and townscape. The building is an excellent and rare example of a large station building from the 1940's period and is of high significance. The remaining buildings contribute to the site and add to its completeness and context. The residences have a strong visual contribution to the streetscape. Note: There are incomplete details for a number of items listed in NSW. The Heritage Branch intends to develop or upgrade statements of significance and other information for these items as resources become available.
