Statement of Significance

Posting box of the type installed in the Charing Cross area between 1885 and 1890. Similar to the one now preserved outside the Boot Factory, Spring Street, but this one has no maker's name. The preservation of Victorian street furniture, still in constant use, is a very pleasant aspect of the area and contributes to its village atmosphere.
Date Significance Updated: 07 Feb 00
