Statement of Significance

This well known set of carvings is not referred by Dowd or Ashton and McPherson, even though it is of the same type as the protected one at North Bondi. The figures now visible are a very large marine creature, perhaps a whale seen from above, and a smaller whale-like figure, seen in profile. The carvings are very close to the walking track but have not been in any way vandalised, perhaps because few people are aware of their existence. In this case, benign neglect may be the best protection.
Date Significance Updated: 07 Feb 00
