Statement of Significance

Typical public school building of the 1920's. A good, essentially intact example. Special social and historical interest for the area. Local significance.

Description
Construction Years: 1915 - 1945
Physical Description: Symmetrical public school building, dated 1925. Exhibits Free Classical styling with an Arts and Crafts influence. Decoration restrained. Face brick up to sill level of second storey, roughcast above. Hipped, slate roof with roughcast gable to central projection. Large, attractive, entry portico below. Features hipped, skillion, corrugated iron roof and rendered decoration. Hardly altered.

History
Historical Notes: Construction completed 1926. Opened in January the following year. Originally an infants school. Became a full primary school in 1937. (Dowd, pp. 203-4).
