Statement of Significance

Early church building of local historical interest despite loss of visual context. Essentially intact, with some individual architectural interest.

Description
Construction Years: 1890 - 1890
Physical Description: Old brick church. Simple Ecclesiastical Gothic styling with parapet gables. Light sandstock brick with stone used for decorative features. Good belfry with spire. Now has concrete tiled roof. Curtilage compromised by new flat building in front.

History
Historical Notes: Completed in 1881, a year after the site was purchased for the Congregational Church. Designed by Herbert Thompson and built by John Johns. Post War subdivision led to unsympathetic flat buildling being built next door.
