Local Government Heritage Management
The Heritage Incentives Program provides funding to councils to assist with the management of heritage items in their local government area.
On this page are documents to help local councils administer this funding.
Heritage Strategy Summary Report for 2006-2007
The Heritage Branch has prepared the first Local Government Heritage Management Program Summary Heritage Strategy Report for 2006-07 from data collected from the 68 councils currently participating in the heritage advisory funding program. This represents 65% of the 105 eligible rural and regional councils in NSW.
Heritage Strategy Summary Report for 2007-2008
For 2007-08 local councils were required to report on the implementation of their heritage strategy. The Heritage Branch has prepared a Local Government Heritage Management Program Summary Heritage Strategy Report for 2007-08 from data collected from the councils currently participating in the heritage advisory funding program.
Heritage Strategy Annual Report Template for 2008-2009
For the financial year, 2008-2009, Local councils are required to report on the implementation of their heritage strategy using the new template below. The template is in microsoft word format and can be used on Microsoft Windows. Reports should be emailed to Victoria Throp at victoria.throp@planning.nsw.gov.au by the 30th May.
Sample Heritage Strategies 2008-2011
Councils must prepare a heritage strategy to guide heritage management in their area as a condition of heritage funding.
A selection of 2008-2011 heritage strategies prepared for regional NSW councils are provided here by permission of the respective councils.
Local Heritage Fund
Many councils run a local heritage fund with assistance from the Heritage Incentives Fund. Use the model below to report on completed projects at the end of the financial year. Reports should be emailed to Victoria Throp at victoria.throp@planning.nsw.gov.au by the 30th May.
