About Heritage Research Funding


Historical research Historical research and local archive projects
 
Project purpose for historical research and presenting a local history; preparing a local archives collections management plan, or preparing a local photographic collections management plan
 
For example You and several members of your local historical society are planning to undertake historical research in your local area to assist in the identification of potential heritage items. Your research will be used as the basis for a community-based heritage study that is being organised through your local council. You apply for a $-for-$ grant of $4,500 to assist with consultant costs

Your local historical society is planning to employ a consultant to develop a management plan for your community archive collection of photographs which will be implemented by your society. You apply for a $-for-$ grant of $4,500 to assist with consultant costs

 
Funding Dollar for dollar grants up to $4,500
 
Application closing dates Applications closed for the 2009 program in June 2009. Applications will open for the 2010 program in May 2010.

 
Who can apply Individuals

Community organisations

However, you CAN NOT apply for funding if you are a state or local government agency undertaking work as part of your statutory responsibilities (but you may be involved as a project partner to a community organisation, individual or business)

Eligible Projects

Projects for

  • Undertaking historical research and presenting a local history, or
  • A local archives collection management plan, or
  • A local photographic collections management plan

 
Priorities Your project meets the priorities set out in the application and Royal Australian Historical Society guidelines
 
Common selection criteria for all projects Funding is targeted to projects with
  • Sustainable long term heritage benefits
  • Public benefit and enjoyment
  • Innovation and leadership
  • Capacity and commitment to undertake and complete the project
  • Funding equity and cost effectiveness

Processing your application

In assessing your application, the quality and clarity of information provided will be taken into account

All projects must be completed and all funding claimed by 30 December 2010

All emailed applications will be acknowledged within 2 working days

Please contact the RAHS Manager if you fail to receive acknowledgement of your application

NSW Heritage Grants 2009-2011 is a targeted funding program. Projects must meet eligibility criteria, program priorities and common selection criteria. However in exception circumstances, the Heritage Branch, Department of Planning reserves the right to recommend funding for projects that may not fully meet the program selection criteria
