| For example |
You are a council on the NSW south coast, you apply for dollar up to $15,000 for dollar funding to assist with the preparation of a community based heritage study to inform your comprehensive LEP
On completion of this study you apply for dollar for dollar funding up to $7,000 per year to engage a heritage advisor to assist council with its heritage management responsibilities
You also apply for dollar for dollar funding up to $8,500 so that you can establish a local heritage fund and provide incentive funding for small heritage projects for places listed on your heritage schedule of the LEP

| Funding |
Dollar for dollar grants up to $15,000, for heritage planning reports, heritage studies and heritage study reviews.
Dollar for dollar grants (years 1 to 4) per year thereafter $1 for $2 up to $7,000 per year towards a heritage advisor
Dollar for dollar grants up to $8,500 per year for a local heritage fund.
Grants up to $4,700 per year to subsidise the operation of a regional heritage network to facilitate local government heritage management

| Application closing date |
Applications for heritage advisors, local heritage funds and heritage planning studies are closed for 2009-10. In the meantime, you can email an Expression of Interest for your project/s and we will keep it on file for when these programs re-open in 2010-11. |

| Who can apply |
Local government can apply for
Heritage planning studies
- Existing studies were last completed or updated before 2000
- LEP gazettal timeframes of 2009 and 2011 can apply for funding.
- All local councils can apply, however Department of Planning priority local councils (included in the metropolitan, regional and sub-regional strategies) will be given first priority, if needed.
Heritage advisory services
- From July 2009 all NSW local councils are eligible for funding.

- From July 2009 all NSW local councils are eligible for funding.
Regional heritage networks to facilitate local government heritage management can apply for funding for
- Councils or individuals that are prepared to convene and co-ordinate a regional heritage network

All projects must be completed and all funding claimed by 30 May each year
NSW Heritage Grants 2009-2011 is a targeted funding program. Projects must meet eligibility criteria, program priorities and common selection criteria. However in exception circumstances, the Heritage Branch, Department of Planning reserves the right to recommend funding for projects that may not fully meet the program selection criteria
